What kind of peoson will buy ITX motherboard?

One advantage is small, any other advantages?

Hi, ITX enthusiast here. The only reason I have an ATX system at all is that I accidentally inherited one when I helped somebody convert their PC to ITX. Other than that, all of my systems use an ITX board.

You're 100% correct in that the main advantage is size. Weight is an indirect benefit, because if you're buying an ITX board, you probably want a smaller, lighter case. Strictly IMO, they're also just much more fun to build a system around. It's more of a challenge to make things fit, and you really have to think through your build more when picking parts and building it.

ITX is definitely not for everyone, and it takes a certain type of person (masochist?) to choose that route. I enjoy it, I appreciate the benefits of going that route, and that's why I strongly prefer to build in that form factor.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

everything else is a downgrade.

They do tend to offer better memory overclocking because they have higher layer counts and 1DPC memory topology. There's a reason the memory frequency world record was on an ITX board for a while.

Everything else though is limited since there's just not enough board space.
