Is Radeon RX 6750 XT a good upgrade from RX Vega 64?

Chiyawa

Thinking of making the switch. What do you guys think?

Well, to elaborate further:

- I have LG 29WK600, Ultra Wide Full High Definition, HDR, 2560x1080, 75Hz, 21:9 aspect ratio.

- Games I played: Genshin Impact, FarCry series (3 and Blood Dragon), Assassin Creed series (3 and Unity), Anno 2205, Crysis 3 (old version), Mass Effect 1, 2, 3 (old version), Civilization V, CnC 3 Tiberium War, StarCraft 2,

- Future game: Forza Horizon, Halo Master Chief Edition, City Skyline, Anno 1800. FarCry 5,

- Workstation load: Cyberlink Power Director 15, Blender.

- GPU I have in mind: PowerColor Red Devil RX 6750 XT, XFX Speedster MERC 319 RX 6750 XT. Looking for 6700XT options as well.

- As long as it can run the game smoothly. I usually play in ultra quality (or extreme. I like to see beautiful pictures). 60fps minimum is my target (City Skyline and Anno 1800 are exception as I know they tend to stutter when there are too many units to draw in the screen)

- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

- Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus X570 Pro WiFi v1.0

Thanks in advance.

Chiyawa.

A 6750XT is just a bit overclocked 6700XT, choose the cheaper option. It's a good GPU option for the Ryzen 5 3600.

For Cities Skylines and a few other mentioned games, a better CPU would be nice, a Zen3 like the 5700X, 5800X, 5800X3D or 5900.

Yeah. I'm planning to upgrade my CPU since I play Real-Time Simulation game often, but that'll be other time. 5700X is still fairly expensive, so I'm waiting for the release of AM5 and see if the price will drop.

Oh, my sister wanted to play VII.I.Age, will RX 6700 XT or RX 6750 XT run well at 2560x1080?

The 6700XT or 6750XT will be a rather large step forward from a Vega64. Vega64 is essentially the same performance level as a GTX 980 TI, whereas the 6700XT is going to be closer to a 3070 in performance. You should be fine, especially at 1080p 75hz.

If you are planning on doing anything for a CPU upgrade, just going with a 5600 or 5600X would be a huge improvement for you, just from the single thread performance gains. I was blown away by the difference in rendering going from a 3900XT to a 5950X, and the improvements were probably even better in gaming.

Not sure what you use Blender for, but unless it's running on your GPU alone, you would see an insane performance boost going from your 3600 to a 5700X; A render project that took a bit over 48 minutes on my 3900XT took less than 29 minutes on my 5950X. Might sound kinda... Eh, but I have a project that would have taken around 20 hours to render on my 3900XT, and I'm looking at 14-16 hours on the 5950X, mostly depends if I do it during the summer or winter time. o.x

I see. Thanks for the info.

I usually use my GPU to render my 3D model and the reason I choose Vega last time is because the render speed is super fast (thanks to its HBM2 memory). You do need to download a plug in in order to tell Blender to use your AMD GPU rather than CPU to render the completed model (kinda forgot where I got the software but if not mistaken, I think it is AMD ProRender website). A BMW render test took mere minutes (I think only 2 or 3) compare to CPU which take close to 9 or 10 minutes. For rendering 3D model, I think you should use your GPU. It'll reduce a great amount of time to render the model.

If the main reason is for rendering purpose, IMO you should go with nVidia.

Because their CUDA and Optix are more widely used with rendering program.

Yeah, but nVidia can really burn my pocket back then. Since I am just a hobbyist, nVidia option is not ideal as at that point, a GTX1080 cost me around USD650 at 2018. I took Vega 64 because at that time the new RX 5700 GPU just launched and the shop is clearing the inventory, and I think the price they give me is somewhere around USD 450 (brand new) back in 2018. Since at that time I'm more active in my hobby, that was pretty much a great deal.

This is not a perfect comparison, however it does tell a story.

Link to comparison:
Radeon RX Vega 64 vs GeForce GTX 1080 vs Radeon RX 6750 XT vs Radeon RX 6700 XT vs GeForce GTX 980 Ti [videocardbenchmark.net] by PassMark Software

As mentioned in above posts RX VEGA 64 is between a 980ti and a 1080.
So RX 6700 XT / 6750 XT should be about 37% faster than RX 64 according to the numbers.
However it really varies from game title to title, best option would be to look at youtube videos for direct comparison as the numbers here alone can't tell you if you can get a locked 60 FPS or not in a specific title.

Example video: Please keep in mind, that this is on a regular 1920x1080 (1080p) resolution and not an ultrawide, so your fps results will be lower in practice.
So your actual numbers may be expected somewhere between 1080p & 1440p results for reference.
