Non reference GTX Titan ?

Slightly off of a tangent here. Gigabyte are supposedly making a Titan Black with thier own windforce cooler.

780 and 780Ti coolers work.

Nvidia has limited their boardpartners to reference designs, some ship their own coolers with them however.

It's the terms and condition of nvidia, that no board partners can make non reference designs.

 

That's why watercooling exists though, I've seen titans at over 1400 mhz with modded bios, imagine dat horsepower doe.

You can buy a 780 TI/titan black/ 780 cooler and put it on a titan if you'd like I believe.  People sell them on ebay sometimes.

They are made for 780/780ti/titan/titan black. Its all the same pcb.

The PCB is different on the 780 TI/ Titan black, it has an extra capacitor in one of the spots I believe, other than that it's the same.

the Poseidon is a bit dumb IMo, if you're gonna watercool something, watercool it right, if you're gonna air cool it, make a proper heatsink.

 

Just my 2 cents.

 

A kingpin 780 TI is well above the performance of a titan, atleast by 10-20%. Especially seeing as you can get upwards of 1400-1500 mhz on watercooling, more if you decide to really really push it.

 

But the downfall of it is the 3gb, if you ever decided to get a second one you'd be held back by VRAM.

Just buy an aftermarker cooler from EVGA or if you want if you want to go hard core, go with NZXT new video card cooler.
