Hello so I need to upgrade my ram but since the ram I have no longer is on the market (don't want to buy used) I will buy new.

BUT the cheapest ram is 3200-3600MHz and my CPU is only rated for 2933MHz. Will that impact me in a negative way or should I just go for the rated speed.

Can't seem to find any negative about that config but might as well ask here.

First, what CPU do you have? I'm guessing a 10th gen i7/i9 and with those, if you're on a board that supports memory overclocking you should have no problem hitting 3600MHz+, but that's just a shot in the dark.

Either way, get the faster kit. You can always downclock it to 2933 if there are any issues (which there likely won't be). My personal system, for example, is running a memory kit rated at 4400MHz, though I only run it at 3800MHz.

For 3600 and lower downclock should be pretty easy by just setting ram freq lower and letting mobo auto the timings

Cpu and board? Also what rams do you have? If you happen to have slow 16gb 2x8 kit then most ics overclock to 3200 with ease so 3000 is basically guaranteed other than some really old garbage ics
