No boot device detected

BlueZebra12

Hi guys. Just built my first computer and when I get into the bios and press F8 to try and install windows (I have the flash drive plugged in) it just tells me no boot drive detected. I’m not sure what to do or how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated!

How did you create the bootable media? Using the Media Creation tool?

In your UEFI, make sure that:

  • UEFI is enabled (should not be set to Disabled or Legacy)
  • CSM must be disabled
  • If you're using a SATA drive, that it's SATA controller is set to AHCI mode.
  • fTPM or Intel PTT or dTPM must be enabled (for Win11)

Try:

  • Connect your USB flash drive is connected directly on your motherboard
  • Try using the rear USB port of your board.
  • You may need to enable Legacy mode on the USB controller in the UEFI
  • You may need to enable support for USB storage support in your UEFI.

If you haven't found the bios option to boot from usb, you should read the motherboard manual or search on the internet for some specific tutorial.

If, on the other hand, you have found the bios option for the boot and you have correctly configured the bios for the boot (internal clock included), but the bios does not detect the bootloader (it is assumed to be installed correctly), you first try another usb port and, if it doesn't work too, you can use another usb drive (by another manufacturer).
