I have had Astro a10 headphones for a while now. I had one stop working and got another pair. I am looking to venture off and find new headphones. I want something good for footsteps and good for music but i don't want to have an amp and I have a budget of $150 a little variable. so what do you guys recommend?

1. Gaming headsets aren't good for music except maybe hyperx clouds, but even those were copied off another company. Buy a nice pair of REAL headphones and put a mic on it.

2.I would also get a DAC AMP to drive them as motherboards don't have great amplification.

here's what I would get. https://www.amazon.com/Philips-SHP9600-Headphones-Open-Back-00/dp/B091ZMKWT4/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1N9FOCLSXNUT2&keywords=Grado%2BGW100&qid=1650942302&sprefix=grado%2Bgw100%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExWjRQS0xSQUJLSlM5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMTY3Njg2MVRMM1FUWTREQ0ZTTiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNTg1OTIxMkFFRVJOSlZFTEZTTSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1

headphones can vary but the fulla is definitely a must

If you can squeeze a little more out of your budget, the Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R has gotten excellent reviews. I'd also take a look at HardwareCanucks channel, as they do very extensive reviews of gaming headsets and you'll get a better feel for the mic quality between them. You don't need an amp/dac as they're very easy to run.

Beyerdynamic DT770 is a pretty typical recommendation for a cheap but good closed back headphone

The DT770 are indeed good. though you do need a Equalizer for certain music to sound good. [Equalizer APO]

The motherboard if plugged straight into the PC, does need to be able to drive it Depending on the OHM of the Headset.

I recall them being OEM'd through takstar because everyone liked takstar at the time. Wouldn't call that a copy.

Yeah, come to think of it, there was a time when a Takstar can was the talk of the town among some headphone enthusiasts (recall it resembled a first gen HyperX, or was it the other way around?)

DT770 is your best closedback headphone and Tygr 300 if openback. All the other "gaming" headsets/headphones are a bunch of trash.

DAC/AMPs:

Klipsch Heritage Headphone Amplifier

Headphones: Klipsch Heritage HP-3 Walnut, Meze 109 Pro, Beyerdynamic Amiron Home, Amiron Wireless Copper, Tygr 300R, DT880 600ohm Manufaktur, T90, Fidelio X2HR

The pro80 was often called a discount DT770. Then the HyperX branding got slapped on
