I want some custom sleeved cables for my rig. I've had my eye on some BitFenix Alchemy cables. I know I want a combination of black and green sleeving, but I am no longer able to locate that color scheme on any of the retailers BitFenix has linked on their site. I could just get green, but considering my rig is 99% black, all green cables just seem a little... excessive.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a place where I can get some custom cable sleeving done for a reasonable price? I don't have the tools or anything else required to sleeve my own cables, unfortunately. I would love to, but it's probably more expensive than just buying a few extensions, at any rate.

Do it yourself. No place better than mdpc-x.com, Nils has all the best tools and sleeving on the market and it really is a joy to do yourself, absolutely no reason you should pay anyone else to do it for you. You will also get much better looking cables than you get with something like BitFenix Alchemy cables.

if someone has never done this in their life, it can be quite disastrous

all the measuring, crimping, sleeving, heat shrinking, and most importantly of all getting each cable in the correct hole

its better to get pre sleeved cables or someone experienced to properly sleeve them for you

if it takes days for a professional to do it, it could take a noob weeks or even months

and potentially breaking your PSU or components

Have you actually ever tried it? It sounds like you haven't. Putting the right wires in the right holes really is not rocket science, neither is measuring, crimping (the tool does literally everything for you, just follow the instructions), or working the heatshrink. If you sit down and actually want to do it, it is the easiest thing in the world and can be quite enjoyable. Sleeving my first PSU took me 3 evenings and a couple of glasses of good scotch, and that was an AX1200 with cables for 3 GTX 580's. Everything turned out flawless, of course I messed up a couple of times but I redid those and that's that. I enjoyed every second of it.

Don't discourage people from doing things themselves. You don't get experience if you don't try and most of the time you're majorly missing out on the joys of life if you just have everyone else do stuff for you.

(side note: Unless you want to actually make custom length cables crimping isn't even part of sleeving.)

As I said, I would love to sleeve my own cables... but by the time I purchase the required tools, one of Nils' kits with all of the sleeving and heatshrink, plus the extra sleeving I would need to add some other colors, PLUS pay for the international shipping... I'd be looking at at least $100 US. (Unless my math is wrong, which it very well could be).

Compared to paying $50 for some extension cables.

If I was working on building an "amazing" custom rig, I would sleeve my own cables, of course. But I'm running an FX-6300 with an R9 270x, here.  :P

Not really keen on spending more on sleeved cables than I paid for my power supply itself...

This is of course much more reasonable and I can most definitely see where you're coming from. In this case I'd say the BitFenix cables are problaby the way to go, you don't find many other products in the price range and I'd definitely say the BitFenix cables comes out on top of the range of "pre-sleeved" cables. Not anywhere near the fit and finish of a good "home-sleeving" but if that is out of your price range BitFenix is not a bad choice.

Yeah. I just wish I could find the dual-color extensions again. I know a couple of the retailers sold black/color and white/color sleeved extensions, but all I can find is single-color extensions now.

I guess I could always just buy black. Everything else in my rig is black anyway...

Lutro0 customs makes custom cables with lifetime warranties.

DIY is a great route, make sure to read the sleeving faq on ocn and watch the sleeving guides by lutro0 before you purchase anything to know what your methods will be.

Proper tools is key, Check out lutro0customs.com for supplies and tools.

Also another way to get black and colored extensions is to buy both a black and colored extension from bitfenix and then use a good molex extractor to make your design.

Heh, I hadn't even thought of that last option.

I've started leaning more toward sleeving my own wires though. Even at the extra cost, it would be something I could say I did myself. Which is always nice. Plus, I'm having a difficult enough time closing the right side panel of my case without an extra 3 feet of extension cables and extra connectors being stuffed in there as well.

Thanks though.  :)
