10400F or 11400F

I planned to buy an ASUS TUF GAMING B560 PLUS motherboard with Arctic Freezer esports 34 (not duo, with single fan).

The question is: Should i choose 10400f or 11400F?

There is 23,28 USD difference beetween these processors.

My gpu is RX 570 8gb GDDR5

11400F is faster and supports newer technologies. Get it instead.

However, if you can afford it, get a 12400F + B660/H670 instead. It's much faster than both.

Well it really depends on what you want to do, if you want to game completely and are truly interested in performance and FPS, I recommend the 11400F, but if you don’t mind having to sacrifice a bit of performance a FPS, recommend the 10400F

I wouldn't buy either, 12th gen is not much more and is much faster. For reference, the i3 12100F is a quad core and still matches the 10400F in multi core workloads.

its okay, but i3 just have 4 cores which is not so much. My cpu is a ryzen 3 1200 (4 cores as well)

The i3-12100 is far superior to the Ryzen 3 1200. The Ryzen 3 1200 is closer to an i7-2600k. The 12100 is on par with the 11600K, and faster than AMD's 8 and 6 core offerings from Zen 2.

That said, the 12400F isn't much more expensive, and is faster, and if you're going for an i3-12100, you're already going for a B560 which should handle the 12400 anyway, so not really a big increase in cost vs performance.

Well I would say it's probably fine for what I presume is your future graphics card budget given you're considering an old locked i5. Obviously nobody can read the future.

That said, I'd get the 12400F instead 100% for a primary system.

I have an i3-10105F for a low-priority system, and it runs an RX 570 full power without issues and I suspect anything around RTX 3060/Radeon 6600 without problems also (most of the time).

You could get the 12100f as well. 12th gen is orders of magnitude better than 11th. 11th is one of their worst gens of all time and 12th is one of the best. I would just save up a bit longer or get the 12100f. You can also sell your old ryzen chip/mobo as well to help offset the cost.

If you're really strapped on cash....what motherboard is your current R3 1200 in?

Exactly, he could slot in like a 5500 or something that just came out and have way better performance. Didn't think of that

In that case, do a bios update and grab the Ryzen 5500.

Because it's an awful cpu generation with little to no gen on gen performance increase.

Sounds like an epic fail to me

I don't know if that board supports Zen 3. Here's the official support list. I don't know if a beta BIOS exists.

But a secondhand Zen 2 chip (like Ryzen 5 3600) might be able to be found that would give on-par performance to the 10400/11400.

Okay so when 11th gen is not worth it at all, should i buy 10400F? and i can save money for a stronger video card to the future
