Two GPUs...Send Help!

I'm buying a 3070 Ti. I have 2 options. Does the difference boost clock are 1860-1815. Not important right? Both the same price. So want to make sure I get the best one I can with no issues reported on the models. Like gigabyte. HA!

As for what I'll be doing with the card; Gaming, Streaming and encoding stream with it. Rendering videos (rarely) if I continue that nonsense.

 

Options are:

 

Used for 3-4 months , never mined on.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti FTW3 Ultra

 

Brand New In Box, never touched.

Asus GeForce RTX 3070 Ti TUF

For the same price, I'd go with the NIB card here.

No real difference between them.  

Get the new one to make sure you don't have any warranty ownership issues.

To be fair EVGA has a much better track record for warranty and customer service than Asus. Also EVGA warranties their GPUs even if you buy them used. The caveat being since you are not the original owner, you lose out on a couple benefits. Double check this on their website, but last time I checked, the warranty starts from the date it was shipped, and you lose the cross shipping option on dead cards.

 

I much prefer EVGA, over any brand of GPU. I prefer any brand over Asus. That said, I would also tend to lean towards the new card. I would double check, though, some manufacturers want you to purchase through authorized vendors for a warranty. So if you are buying a scalped card, don't just assume you won't have a warranty issue.

Why is that? Anything over Asus?

 

I also usually always go EVGA. Since the 900 series (desktop) always. However I never had a new card before till the one in my system now. I settled for this one cause I couldn't find a ftw3 ultra or TUF.

Also can't you transfer left over warranty on EVGA cards? Is that not true anymore?

Warranty transfers are always kinda sticky, so if it's easy to avoid it?  I would.

My problem with Asus, is a personal preference, and likely my bad luck with their products. However lots of people like their products, and use them. So don't let that necesssarily discourage you.

 

EVGA will let you transfer the warranty. It's in their stated policy, see the link. It's not an issue at all, you'll even be able to add the card to your my EVGA account, no issue at all. I've done it it recently.

Yeah, probably right. I never had an used within needing warranties. Asus I just worry about as never had one. However my AMD upgrade I did in 2020 is Asus TUF motherboard so why not match.

In Europe - warranty isn't tied to the owner but to the product - as long as the receipt matches the product the warranty is valid.

If a PSU has 5 years warranty, you sell it after 2 and give the buyer the receipt, the second owner sells it after 2 years and gives the buyer the receipt, and the PSU dies after 4.5 years the last owner does the RMA and it's all good.

Right. Same in USA. Well with EVGA anyway.
