AMD buys Pensanto for $1.9B - maker of DPUs (100g+ network cards with lots of hardware processing and intelligence)

ServeTheHome just posted a video explaining why AMD bought this company and what a DPU card is... they've just bough Xilinx and now this company, probably also as a reply to nVidia buying Mellanox which has similar products.

The stuff around DPUs that interests me the most is actually VMware Project Monterey, the stuff AWS is already doing, and composable infrastructure. Being highly tied in with VMware for a long time that is actually applicable to me without having adopt something totally new from a different vendor while also making a fundamental change to infrastructure architecture.
