Can a dead pixel be my fault?

OctavioMaya

During blackfriday I had the opportunity to buy this monitor: Asus VG248QG. A week back I bought a wood base

to have some office supplies at hand and hide some cables. After moving the monitor, with care of course as it

has always seemed to be frail, and now over the wooden rectangle I did turned it on and when the first white screen

poped up there it was... Right in the upper middle of the screen.

A dead pixel that wasn't there before.

I've already cleaned it up sometimes, that's why i did noticed it to be quite frail.

I want to be 100% that it wasn't my fault before I send it to the online shop. As they make the guarantee process

quite a hassle.

It is extremely unlikely for you to do a single pixel damage . My center monitor also developed a bad pixel 30 days after purchase.

To be honest it doesn't look like a dead pixel with how soft it is... even though the photo is a tad blurry, a dead pixel should absolutely stick out on a white background. That doesn't.

I agree with the above - that doesn't look like a dead pixel. Also, sounds like you handled the monitor normally, so I'm doubting you caused any damage to the screen.

EDIT: Reminds me more of dust inside the panel assembly given it's larger size and soft edges.

Be sure to QUOTE or TAG me in your reply so I see it!

Agree, that looks like a piece of dust, which is unfortunate

Or a slight bright/dark spot on the panel which is still a defect, but not something that would usually be covered under dead pixel policies. I'm thinking it's either dust or a bright/dark spot.

You're sure that just isn't something on the surface of the screen?

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Thank you for such a fast and complete answer you guys have given so far.

I've decided to take closer and better, hopefuly, shots.

I am not sure what's going on, if it's dust or a partialy dead pixel.

That is a partially stuck pixel. I have had the exact same thing happen.
