Windows security is overrated.. it blocks nothing, won't block viruses at all

Go with avira instead.. even though you have to pay for the better version for real time protection, its worth it

Ohh and make sure to switch to monthly when you get avira paid version so it isn't expensive

I've tried Repairing, Resetting (the app), doing weird commands in cmd, but I don't want to try fully resetting the laptop. The settings menu works in the app, and Settings works in general, just not anything in the app.

Did something happen prior? Major Windows Update? A setting you changed? Software you installed?

Have you run Windows Update and rebooted? Any other updates in the queue?

I've tried restarting many times, I have an empty queue, and it's been like this as long as I remember having the laptop. Also, I forgot to mention that trying to launch Windows Security from Settings just crashes Settings.

This may or may not be true, but it's not helpful in the current situation. Parts of Windows settings just straight-up being missing is a problem that needs to be solved even if he decides Avira is better later on.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I entirely agree with this. Also, I've always thought that the best antivirus is common sense. I'm just trying to fix this since I noticed it wasn't working.

Do you have any antivirus or internet security suite that might interfere with Windows Security Center?

Do you recall performing any "tweaks" or "cleanups" that might have caused it?

Try #2 and #3 from here to reset the Windows Security app.

Do you know if "Intel Security Assist" is a security app? Other than that, I don't think I have any security stuff. There is a bunch of preinstalled ASUS apps, but I don't think those have anything to do with security. About resetting Windows Security, #3 failed because it couldn't find "C:\AppxManifest.xml"
