All games are laggy

HeaT

I've had this problem for a long time now. No matter what game I play I get fps drops for a few seconds that make the game unplayable.

My specs are as follows:

AMD 5600x

ASUS b550-f Gaming motherboard with the latest bios(2423)

Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro - 16gb

MSI 3080 Suprim X

Corsair RM750X

WD Black SN850 1TB M.2

Gigabyte Aorus 27" FI27Q-X 2560x1440p

I've tried a fresh install of Windows 10 and 11 on 3 different drivers. I've tried 3 different monitors, Turned Gsync off, Tried using my old GPU which is a 2080 Super. Tried different ram sticks and a different PSU

I recenlty sent my Motherboard, Ram and CPU back to where I brought them from for testing but they were unable to find a fault.

I have a video of the fps drops in Elden Ring https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNUK0P0FE6Q&

My GPU and CPU temps are fine. I've even set my resolution to 800x600 in Elden Ring with everything on the lowest setting and it still does this. This problem isn't just limited to Elden Ring, Games I've tried - Elden Ring, Witcher 3, Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Fortnite, Star Wars Fallen Jedi.

Really at a loss with what's causing this.

Elden ring is an invalid example, the game is known to have performance issues.

Footage from The Witcher 3 is preferable.

Reinstalling Witcher 3, Will update when I've got footage. The footage of elden ring is pretty much what happens in every game. The fps drops down quick then back up

Do you have any RGB software or something else open in the background while playing?

I have icue running in the background.

On the fresh installs of Windows I've done I didn't install icue and it still happened. I installed the amd chipset drivers and gpu drivers and that was it.

What does event viewer-> windows logs -> system show? Any around the dips that are warning/error/critical logs?

Also might want to check your wattages via HWinfo, or try and down clock your GPU. If I read that right you have a 750w GPU which is the minimum recommended PSU by Nvidia.
You might be hitting power limits for a small time

Checked Event viewer, Nothing shows up when the dips happen ingame.

I did buy a 1000w psu to try and still had the same problems

Try memtest on usb. See if that shows any errors. I would suggest at least an hour running to see if errors show up

I ran memtest few weeks ago for about 5 hours no errors, I've also tried different ram sticks

Can you run in windowed mode and watch part usages like on task manager or some monitoring software like HWinfo?

Wondering if for example your drive is bottlenecking your system.

Also wouldn't hurt to download newest chipset drivers from MB website.

Check the Windows Reliability Monitor, it might give you insight.

And remove Asus Armory Crate using the tool provided on the motherboard website.

CPU cooling OK?

I'll try updating the mb drivers and try again, This was from paying Elden Ring for just under 5 mintues.

The 3600 does bottleneck the 3080 on lower resolutions. That's a upper low end CPU paired with a high end GPU.

Does running PBO help? How about the FreezeFix from the Ryzen DRAM calculator?

He has a 5600x, not a 3600.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
