Dell Alienware AW2721D vs ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM

HatersKing

I am in the market for some new monitors, I will be buying 3 of whichever I choose and am currently stuck between these 2. I am an avid gamer who plays a large mass of games ranging from your average single player games like minecraft and tomb raider to more intense AAA titles such as COD and Battlefield. I feel as if 1440p 240hz is a good middle ground for me because I want better quality than 1080p but don't wanna suffer from the performance hit of running a 4k monitor. Any and all suggestions as well as opinions and facts on the two monitors I have listed above will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!

I have the Alienware. I personally wouldn't get the Asus. It honestly depends how much you can get them for. In my opinion Alienware 2721D is the best option. The problem with the Asus Pg279qm is you are paying the "rog tax". There is a third good option with the same panel if you live near a Microcenter (they also have it refurbished in the acer store on ebay-positive) (Or BhPhoto too, but don't quote me on that). The "Acer Predator XB273U GXbmiipruzx ". I know, what a mouthful. This monitor is excellent for the price. It is actually more color accurate than the Alienware OR the Asus, but the build quality isn't nearly as good imo. This monitor MSRP is $700 but the real world price on Ebay and Microcenter is $600. The reason this monitor is cheaper is because it only has Gsync compatibility, not G sync ultimate like the other two. This monitor DOES on the other hand, overclock to 270hz unlike the other two. The alienware is the sweet spot in my opinion though if you can get a good price on ebay or elsewhere. It was originally $900, now its down to $700. On ebay, since it has been out for awhile, it often goes for like 525-600 (which is a crazy deal- I personally got lucky and paid 450). The Alienware has HDR 600 and has a 3 year zero dead pixel warranty AND great build quality). Since I got it on Ebay, I won't get warranty, but dell (OEM for alienware), has been rock solid for me in the past so I am not worried. At $900, I do not think the Asus Pg279qm is worth considering AT ALL. I have had a ROG monitor before. The build quality is fine, but not as good as alienware. The warranty is also not "no questions asked" like the alienware is. Go with the alienware in my opinion. Either hunt for a good deal on ebay and risk something happening to it( electronics fail on a bell curve and are unlikely to fail after the initial few weeks), or pay the full $700 for the peace of mind. If you want the extra 30hz and better color accuracy and do not care about warranty or build quality as much, go with the acer. Asus is a non factor in this case.
