Fan mod - will I break it?

I'm reusing a transparent Cooler Master 230mm with red LED lights shown in the picture for my new case project...

 

... if I were to snip the wires that power the LEDs... Would that break the circuit for the fan, and prevent it from rotating?

It shouldn't cause any problems, they're independent from each other.

 

I'd suggest lifting the round sticker a bit where the wires go in, and there you'll find two solder points where the wires are connected to the circuit board. Use a sharp blade/exacto-knife/whatever to cut one of the wires and put a bit of scotch tape or electrical tape over the solder joint so that the wire won't touch the point where it was connected.

This way should you ever change your mind and make the leds work again, you just have to remove the tape and heat the solder joint to make contact with the wire again.
