so i keep my PC on my desk. and it vibrates alot. it can either be my 3 fans or my 2 hdd's but im scared that the vibrations can cause something to fail since both of my hdd'(wd blue 300gb and wd black 1TB) that are as old as 2008 when the first TB hdd came out, could fail. how can i minimize the vibrations. the cpu cooler is vibrating the most.

is that cardboard inside your hdd tray?

i would suggest taking all the extra stuff out and getting the drives as far away from each other.

@Tocsin_786

Firstly, I would make sure all the attachments/scews are secure. You could try placing your system on the carpet, under the desk. It will reduce vibration, but the PSU might have to be placed upwards to get free-air flow.

I would think your hard drives would be quite alright, in the racks they are in and the case is a relatively decent quality built case. That said. I would always making sure data is backed up, no matter what  :lol:

If you don't want to place your system on the carpet. You can get plastic grommets or little plastic blocky things (lol) like on the noctua fans; To reduce vibrations. However, I doubt the fans would cause such a problem.

P.S remove that cardboard box out. You don't need that... And in fact, maybe some of the screws are rattling. That could help

Corsair 400R, i7 3770K @ 4.5GHz 16GB, Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz, Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Motherboard, 240GB Samsung 840 Evo Sata III SSD, 2 x Asus GTX 780 Direct CU2 SLI, Corsair H100i and Corsair AX860i Platinum Power supply.

The cardboard box in the drive bay is affecting airflow, remove it and separate the hdd. I usually keep the motherboard box, write the date of purchase on the outside and store anything related to the build (like extra case hardware, booklets, cd) in the box.

Check that the cpu cooler is well seated. With the system turned off, you should not be able to wriggle the cooler if you place a finger on top of the cooling tower and gently try to rock it.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Not that this makes it less but with that set-up, why not place the PC on the ground?

Your desk it small and makes it only more comfortable with a PC right next to you.

And why is your cpu cooler's fan on that side?

i just put it in a push config. since it gets direct air flow from my front intake fans.

Yikes! Were you able to find the missing blade?

it was stuck between the drive cages and the fan itself. it could have been much worse. that blade could have cut through wiring or something.

Yeah... Do you even remember touching it at all while it was running, or did it just decide to break?

Remove it!!! You are not supposed to leave it in... We know what it is. It was packaged like that but you don't leave the foam around the outside or plastic on the windows. Get rid of that box!! (Well just take it out of ur PC)
