I was messing around with the registry settings and I realized just how powerful it is. It can go from bricking the OS to whatever you want to transform Windows into. My laptop is very slow, and I was trying to find ways to optimize Windows as much as possible, and registry is the perfect choice. But it so confusing to what setting to change there as there are tons of with most of them that I don't even know what they do. Is there any documentation on if not all, then majority of the common registry keys in Windows?

PLEASE MARK COMMENTS AS SOLUTION IF SATISFIED!!

bigger number better, makes me look cooler.

if you need to speed up your pc with windows, a debloater is the way to go, also optionally doing tweaks in winaerotweaker, it modifies the registry automatically

Dont fuck around with regedit without having backups. Its a ledger of settings used by apps. Doing "tweaks" to "speed up" your pc in regedit are mostly a thing of the past, you can get rid unnecessary explorer context menu entries or fix broken installers but that is as far as I would recommend, anything else just becomes a long term hassle.

Playing in the registry is all fun, but understanding how the registry works is key to properly do things and not screw up the system.

The Registry Editor doesn't have an undo. Backup is required... assuming you can have a working system to do the restore, else it will be a pain to fix.

I do not suggest people to play in the registry.

For your performance issues, I strongly suggest to identify what is the cause of the performance drop before following some random crap online which will most likely hurt your experience and provide no benefits, as the web is full of crap. Most only saves a few MB of drive space and doesn't impact performance, for example.
