so i currently have a 780ti and i love it. im looking to get into 4k gaming and i want to know if i should get another 780ti or wait to see what the 800 series has to offer?

also will i be able to run a 780ti with an 800 series card in sli if they have the same architecture much like amd allows you to do? and finnaly when is the release date for the 800 sereis?

if you are reading this you are wasting valuable time and should maybe rethink your life choices.

Not to mention you would have to drop a huge amount of your budget on a 4K monitor, I say build the rig for 2.5K and in two years get a decent 4k monitor for a buttload cheaper, then chose from the inherently better graphics solutions at that time.

This was my advice to another guy. Its probably better waiting for 4K

Case: Corsair 460X RGB bby, CPU: I5 8600K, Motherboard: MSI B360M PRO-VDH, RAM: 8GB Hyper X 2400MHz , Graphics Card: GTX1060 6GB, PSU: Corsair RM750x,

Cooler: BEQuiet!  Pure Rock Slim SSD: Kingston 240GB, HDD: 2TB Seagate Barracuda

wait and then 4k will be cheaper

i hate waiting for things to get cheaper because then there is always something better when they become cheaper. this sucks for early adopters like me. but i gueess i have to

It should be. I have a R9 290 and run 4K without any AA and some settings on High rather than Ultra and things are smooth and crisp. If a single 780TI isn't enough for you, I assume it's because you need AA (which you don't) ?

Spoiler

Its true. (as sad as it is) the 800 series is all about power efficiency. I did see a report that the 780ti beats the 880gtx rumored specs on paper. but as with all rumors take them with a pinch of salt.

Yeah, however I'd like to hope... :(  although  I know we're still a long way for good smooth 4k performance, maybe 2 880 in sli, who knows when it's all rumors.

i want to be able to max bf4 on 4k

So you want full 16x anisotropic AA on 4K ?

You want all settings at max and not have to turn down a bit some setting you won't even notice ?

You want all that keeping a minimum FPS of 60 ?

Yes, it'll take you probably 3 or 4 780TI to achieve that. It comes a point where going a little further, requires a ton more hardware. It's impractical and if this is what you're waiting for to jump in 4K, you'll make the switch when even 4K isn't relevant anymore (assuming you're not a petroleum tycoon, and you're making money at an average rate).

For 4k gaming on single core you will have to wait a couple of generations more till they can fit more rops on board, the only card i can recommend for 4k is the 295x as it has 128 rops on board.

My PC specs; Processor: Intel i5 2500K @4.6GHz, Graphics card: Sapphire AMD R9 Nano 4GB DD Overclocked @1050MHz Core and 550 MHz Memory. Hard Drives: 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM, 2TB Western Digital Green Drive, Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V , Power Supply: OCZ ZS series 750W 80+ Bronze certified, Case: NZXT S340, Memory: Corsair Vengance series Ram, Dual Channel kit @ 1866 Mhz, 10-11-10-30 Timings, 4x4 GB DIMMs. Cooler: CoolerMaster Seidon 240V

The 700 series isn't. You know how the 770 is essentially a slightly buffed up 680? It's TDP is over 10% more, same goes with other cards like the 760 (vs 660, I think it's 20% in the 760s case). There is a trend everytime there is a die shrink TDP goes down then second gen die shrink = higher TDP but more power.

Ontopic:

I don't think a 780 ti has enough vRAM. I think I recall seeing a video showing 2.8GB vRAM used @ 1080p BF4 maxed out. The memory memory bit rate is only 384 which would be the limiting factor in regards to performance when it has enough vRAM to stretch it's legs. If you're adamant you want 4k now AMD would be a better bet.

It's using 2.8GB because it can, not because it needs it. JayzTwoCents recently uploaded a video saying Bf4 uses just under 2GB on a 2gig card and much more on a card with more vram.

Also, the bus isn't the limiting factor in combination with the highspeed ram used on Nvidia GPUs (for reference look at Titan Black benchmarks).
