Mouse - need 2nd opinion

WereCat

Right now I have G502 Proteus Spectrum since 2016 and no real reason to upgrade.

I've got a 130eur coupon at work to spend in a tech shop and I was thinking about going wireless.

My no-brain solution is to basically grab a wireless G502 for around 60€ to 70€ and maybe something else along with it.

The problem is that EVERYWHERE I see people with the double clicking issues.

I don't know if it's a very loud minority or if the issue is really that wide spread and I don't really want to deal with RMAs.

So I've been looking for alternatives and pretty much I've only found the Razer Basilisk Ultimate. It looks like a perfect fit for me but it's 150€ with the charging dock... now that's a lot for a mouse and I would never even consider it if I didn't have the coupon.

Is it worth it?

Or is there some other alternative? I definitely need the free scroll function on a mouse as I use it a lot.

Oh that double click issue is present in all g502's. The switches wear out faster than other mice because they use a switch that doesn't handle the heavy clicks greatly and shouldn't be in a mouse like this.

If you don't have it on yours already chances are high you wont have it in the new one.

The basilisk isn't without it's odd things but it's a good mouse.

The question really is is do you need to go wireless or do you just want to keep using your current mouse. If it's to really use the coupon could get the g604 it's not supposed to have those issues.

I checked that and it seems like the G604 is also affected 😞 But I'll probably hold off, I'm in no rush, just looking for what to get really.

Also 2 reviews mentioned that both G502 and the Basilisk Ultimate have a "Free Scroll" which I assumed is the unlockable scroll wheel function but the Razer does not have it which is shame.

I'd get the Ultimate. It's an absolutely amazing mouse, just not a lot of people use it because of the price. Most enthusiasts I know use it. I think it's amazing. I would recommend it if you're willing to spend the money. It's basically a matter of if you're willing to spend that much on a gaming mouse. It has great value, just most people won't spend that much on a gaming mouse.

The g502 is an outdated piece of garbage. Get a GPX superlight. Or the viper ultimate/ logitech g305 are good options too for cheaper

I forgot to write an update but I've picked up the Basilisk Ultimate. So far I really like it and I plan to write some small review or impressions but after using it for longer. I definitely miss the infinite scroll vs the G502 but the scroll tilt on this one is so much superior.

Solid choice, enjoy! Good job leaving the "G502 master race". I too was a member for far too long.
