Wired Audio Solution for PS5 and PC Setup

I'll preface by saying I don't really understand audio formats and signals very well. The scenario I have is the following: I have a pc and a ps5, and I would like to use a single headset and I presume some sort of audio amplifier to be able to feed both audio signals into the amplifier. I don't need to be able to listen to both signals simultaneously, but I would like to be able to switch between the two seamlessly. What would you all recommend?

There's several possibilities, perhaps the easiest way is using headphone jack from TV/monitor. HDMI can carry audio signal to the display which then goes to both headphone jack and built in speakers.

If display doesn't have it then you can get an external DAC with at least two digital inputs, e.g. one optical and USB input. For PS5 you can connect optical cable from TV to DAC, and USB cable goes onto your PC.

And if TV doesn't have optical output, then your choice becomes limited as PS5 doesn't support many external DACs via USB. One DAC I can think that does support is Creative Sound BlasterX G6 by connecting USB onto back of PS5, but you need a USB switch for PS5 and PC as IIRC the DAC uses USB power.

(I was annoyed when finding out PS5 doesn't have optical output)

Yeah I was annoyed too when I found out the ps5 doesn't have an optical port since that would have made things easy. Thank you for the ideas both of you!
