New PC super slow

Go to solution Solved by Mavendow,

Alright, so three things. First, get rid of CCleaner, that software can and has damaged Windows for myself and some of my clients. A free alternative is Glary Utilities. This said, don't use any registry cleaner - regardless of brand - unless you're absolutely sure the keys you're cleaning are invalid.

Second, oddly enough I've already confirmed earlier this week that AMD AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.3 Patch C is bad for some Ryzen 5800x CPUs. I advise downgrading one BIOS version. Since you are using Windows 11, using an even earlier version may not be advisable, since that was set as the default in the previous BIOS (whatever that means). The observed problem was -not- excessive memory usage so I am uncertain whether this will fix your issue.

Lastly, for OS repairs and maintenance, run the following script as Administrator. Be aware it will shut down the computer when done, at which point it'll reboot and say "press any key..." Don't press any keys so it can check the disk for problems. Repair.zip

Scan for viruses with bitdefender, defrag disc, clean registry, change windows setings.... and God knows how many more things. All updates re present to the windows, GPU and Bios. It just doesnt help. Idont know what to do. PLS help

Well before I diagnose anything, is what you're doing in After Effects actually requiring that much RAM? I know some art pros using 128GB or 256GB for large projects, crazy as that may sound. Because if it does require that amount of RAM then you will be chasing a wild goose while on a snipe hunt. Here's why.

In most modern OSes there's often a large file stored on your hard drive which acts as a sort of "overflow" for RAM. In Windows it's called the pagefile. This pagefile is by default stored on all of your hard disks. In other words, if you use up all your memory in After Effects and the OS goes "oh damn, better call for backup" then dumps it onto your HDD... Suddenly you're running operations that expect nanosecond response times through a disk that may well take a second or more to respond (a billion times slower).

So, if you do actually need more than 32GB of RAM in After Effects, then the correct solution is to disable the pagefile on that HDD instead of chasing software or hardware problems (and perhaps get more RAM). Because, what you are seeing is the expected behavior of the OS. Windows cannot reliably determine which memory needs fast access and put it on your SSD instead of the HDD. It just knows memory that isn't intended to be cached is overflowing out of the physical RAM and it has to put it somewhere, so it puts it wherever there's space... Like on your HDD. Which, again, could be a billion times slower.

I ask because other RAM usage shown on that table (Lostark, Chrome, etc) are all normal which does not clearly point to a memory leak. The fact it says 7-8mb/s Disk usage is 60% of your total capacity is also a contributing factor. Virtually no SSD has throughput that low.

Do you have the RAM in the proper slots for dual channel? What slots do you have the RAM in? Make sure you reseat them and hear the click, and they should be in slots 2 & 4.

Also, I know that Adobe after the 2014 editions get really slow. I've read that a lot of people have reverted back to Adobe CC 2014 every time a new release comes out, because the new release is just as harsh on the system as the other ones that released after CC 2014.

Thank you guys so much for taking time to help me. Scenes thant am Doing in AE are small and simple. Nothing special. But other apps tend to just use all of my Ram even Chrom. Few months A go I saw on Google that I should try to increas Pagefile. So I did it now is huge. Could that be problem?
I have 4 slots occupied with 8gb

The pagefile will automatically expand to the size it needs to be when automatically managed. You don't need to increase it manually. That's just internet nonsense. Doing so won't cause your processes to eat a lot of memory though.

When did you replace these parts? Before or after the bloated memory usage started?

Yea yea. Thats the first thing I done

Okay, that only leaves two possibilities in my view. Either the most recent BIOS version is bad or the OS is corrupt. We'll start with the latter because that's easier.

Please open Event Viewer, navigate to "Administrative Events," then select the item highlighted below. When it asks what language select "English" then upload it here.

actually yeah. that was bad advice,  page file should be at default managed by windows.

i mean let's say you don't have enough ram (which is likely)  and a huge page file... well, you'll still not have enough ram and windows might dump even more into page file than it would otherwise making things even slower. basically it makes no sense to increase the page file and you should set it back to default.

and make yourself comfortable with buying lots of new ram in the near future  = )
