Posted April 16, 2014 I have a 500Mbs connection, and i can't really get over 4mb/s download speeds. I don't get it what would be the problem. I have a gigabit router from tp-link : TP-LINK TL-WR941ND Or is there another problem ?
 Posted April 16, 2014 Yes it probably would slow down your internet, but it shouldn't do that to such a degree, atleast not over cable (ethernet). Did you try to connect via cable to the router and also directly to your line? What speeds are you getting? Did you try to connect via cable to the router and also directly to your line? What speeds are you getting? Did not try connecting it directly yet, Its annoying its like it does not want to go past 3.9 -4.0 mb/s in utorrent and sometimes it buffers youtube videos on 1080p that never happened to me before, even when playing games downloading and watching twitch all together, no lag no nothing. Its frustrating that it should work better.

It's a pos adware since they changed in 2011 or something. qbit torrent is what I recommend because it's simple to use, open source etc.. Also 4.0MB/s is 32 megabits per second (your connection is 500mbps which should give you a theoretical max of 62.5MB/s) "Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire
 Posted April 16, 2014 Try checking the QoS (Quality of Service) settings on your router. It might give priority to certain protocols and it might put bittorrent at a lower priority. Could you also tell us which provider you are using? Perhaps they are already known for throttling certain types of traffic.
 Posted April 16, 2014 Just because you have a 500mbps line, doesn't mean the swarm is going to be able to allocate you your max bandwidth

Posted April 17, 2014 Your 1000Mb router is not slowing down your 500Mb connection. This is simple stuff. Think about it. Go to testmy.net and post back what it says your speed is. EDIT::::: Nevermind I just checked your router specifications http://www.tp-link.com/lk/products/details/?model=TL-WR941ND#spec You don't have a gigabit router.... so yeah, there's that.
