The world of Death Stranding, and why Teddy thinks Bob's last name is Burger.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Well, I don't know any teacher with funny names, but during my electrical engineering studies I encountered a certain type of antenna called "Beverage antenna". Turns out it was named after a Lt. Cmdr. Beverage, which imho is a very nice name 🙂

  • 3 weeks later...

Seeing as how this was common parlance for many surnames throughout history, I don't think this should really surprise anyone.  It's only with recent history and the industrial age (when people started migrating away from tradecrafts of old) that these no longer held sway over meaning.

Examples:

Pig farmers with the last name Schwein

Shoe makers with the last name Cobbler or Coppler

Bricklayers with the last name Mason

Cooks with the last name Baker

Prison guards or lawmen with the last name Warden

P.S.

I've also ran across various other oddball last names like these, but "Stonebreaker" and "Swinghammer" were 2 of the oddest.

Many of my ex teachers had some weird ass names such as:

Deadcattlecow

Brokenknee

Littlesheepheard

(All of those are literal translations)

The brokenknee teacher was pretty good though, but I found exhilarating the fact that she was teaching sports
