I set up bitlocker not long ago.  I made it where its TPM with pin.  But the pin is enhanced pin which includes letters and numbers.

So as of now I need to enter the bitlocker pin and windows ten password to log in my computer when I power it on.   Now when I lock my computer, is my computer protected or not? I have to enter my windows ten password to unlock it.

So the way I have it set up, if someone does not have access to my windows ten password, then they cannot get into my machine right? I'm asking this because I do not want to turn off my computer and just lock it. But can this windows ten password screen be easily bypassed though? Example I lock my computer now with control alt delete... can someone do something to my laptop? Could they plug a usb flash drive and put malware on it if its locked?

I know if someone doesn't have access to the bitlocker pin at startup and can't even start it up without the bitlocker pin, then they can't get access to hard drive. But what about in this example? Thus imagine me just lock it while I go to bed or go out for a few hours and then come back to my apartments so I don't need to turn on the computer again.

Obviously turning off the computer makes it more safer as the person need both bitlocker pin and windows ten password.  But is this locked screen easily passed?  Thanks.

Unless a vulnerability is found and not patched, it is not easy to get into windows without password

i mean unless the tpm bitlocker stuff prevents it, which was ops question, this isnt true. the windows login password can easily be bypassed otherwise.  (hint: worked at laptop repair store,  and no we didn't just guess the passwords when necessary)

Well since I am using bitlocker with pin... does this matter though?

Again I am talking about when I already entered my bitlocker pin and windows ten password and already in my computer.

Then say I want to go outside for a bit without powering off my computer.  Can I just lock it and that is good enough?   Obviously if you do not have bitlocker set up on your computer, the windows ten password is easily bypassed.  But what if I have bitlocker enabled which I do on this machine.  But all I am doing now is locking it... which essentially typing the windows ten password would get in.

yeah, i know, i was just saying usually the windows password lock can be easily overcome,  i dont know if having bitlocker enabled changes that. i could see it, but i don't know,  i never used bitlocker.
