Arma:II Good or bad?

Is arma II good? Is it also good with dayz mod? 

 

 

My friends keep saying it sucks but Im DOWNLOADING it right now on steam since it was $6.24

It's ok. As long as you know what you're getting yourself into, it's not a game that you can just pick up and play, it really is a game that if you put a ton of time into, you'll like (hardcore is what I'm trying to say).

I also prefer the standalone DayZ to the mod, but it is a decent alternative with a some fun extras like vehicles, animals, etc.

So overall the game is very "meh", but does a good job of being a glitchy military simulator from 2009.

Why not ARMA III?

 

I'm not the biggest fan either way.. However...

 

DayZ standalone mod is amazing, one of the better games so far, and it's still in alpha stages!

 

I wouldn't worry about ARMA - I would just get DayZ if I was you.

 

Then again, this is just my personal opinions from playing both. Plus, $30 buys you the full game in the future. Can't beat that with a game of this caliber and immense detail.

It's not that great since it's too light weight and doesn't seem as realistic as it's supposed to be. If you like this kind of game, it's not that bad for $6.

Worth every penny you put into it. DayZ ruined it (all the crying twelvies). Other mods, missions and the SP is fucking awesome IMO.   All the 'Life' mods put so much value to it. The modding community is fucking huge and theres probably over 10000 hours worth of content out there ATM. Arma 3 needs a bit more development IMO before I buy it but other than that its a good game from what I've seen.  You need to get use to the engine though. Its not silky smooth, it isnt the 'best' engine as such. But it works reliably. Sometimes a car might fly 200 feet in the air and kill 5 people, but for every time that happens, hundreds of awesome moments happen. The combat needs getting use to. Its brutal (not really THAT realistic).  Personally I wouldn't get the DayZ mod, I originally bought it for that but then found out that other communities are way better, more mature ect.  So...yes I would recommend it.  You need perseverance though and the Arma series is not for everyone and can also get quite frustrating.
