Hello, my sister is looking to buy a speaker setup for her apartment and her budget is around $350. She isn't an audiophile by any means and was going to just get a soundbar and call it good but I would like to hear from the audiophiles on the forum what they suggest. Thanks

For something like that budget, a soundbar is likely your best bet.

 

A decent AV Receiver will run you that much for an entry level one, so unless you start looking used for both AV Receiver and Speakers (this is totally doable but requires a lot of legwork), a soundbar seems like the most practical option.

some of the soundbars have gotten surprisingly good in that price range.

Klipsch Cinema 400 and Samsung HW-A650 are better than most separated systems in the $300-400 range

Recently got a Samsung HW-A530 for my parents and it's pretty good for the 180€ i paid.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
