Anime Club - Heaven Society

I guess it counts as anime though I've never thought of it that way.

I recently finished Seasons 17, 18, and 19 of Pokemon. I originally started watching with my family in 2017 or so on Netflix. We made it to the end of Season 18 and then it switched over to Pokemon X, Y, and Z on Netflix. So we started watching Sun and Moon instead.

Then we forgot about it; I don't remember why.

But since I picked up Pokemon again, I started watching again, too.

 

I like the way the story was done. It fit well, and I like how they had Team Flare and Team Rocket compete.

One thing I don't like.

 

They handle game/generation transitions REALLY badly. Ash leaves Kalos, says goodbye to Clemont, Bonnie, Serena, everyone. Gets home in Kanto to Pallet Town. Season 19, Episode 47. There's one more after it (The Legend of X, Y, and Z!) but it doesn't contribute anything to the story, really.

Season 20, Episode 1. Ash essentially ditches his old friends and makes new ones, and pretends nothing in Kalos ever happened. When he confronts Team Skull and is asked "Who are you?" he says "You guys are cowards!". Makes no mention that he saved the world along with Zygarde, his friends in Kalos, all the Kalos Gym leaders, Steven Stone (Hoenn Champion), Diantha (Kalos Champion), Alain, and a bunch of other people.

I like the show, but I really hate their transition tactics.

 

I will say this: They're good at Team Rocket being constant. They always find a new way to screw stuff up.

It was a bit...gruesome...definitely not to be watched while eating dinner. I usually don't watch things quite like that but I enjoyed the story.

I watched gate for the military side and loved the story.( The only gripe is the ending)

But the gore yeah it's pretty umm.

I have no idea what's going on there but it looks pretty tame compared to the train scene or what Nolan did to the pilot.

Invincible on Amazon. It was past the gore of Hellsing Ultimate which was kind of my benchmark prior and even that wasn't that bad compared to some of the old stuff from the 90's I know. I don't watch a show to torture myself and give myself PTSD, I watch stuff to enjoy it and when it's super violent and gore I have a hard time enjoying it.

I was sitting in an ER room with my GF a couple years ago and some Pokemon show came on the TV in there. I wasn't sure if they slipped me some drugs too because holy crap I didn't have a clue what was going on but it sure looked trippy.

There are some episodes that can get interesting.

I think my favorite was the one where Ash travels into another world and then jumps between worlds via mirrors in caves.

hellsing is pretty good, and with the parody version is good too for most of their episodes. (teamfourstar)

very much dislike gore when its over used or if its mostly for those who like that stuff, when its so much it just becomes the main focus.

To shows that is more considerate in their use, also to what level it goes to. Find it weird when there might be a gory one that actually is decent used in a comedy setting sort of like Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (although at times a bit much). To those who say that more gore adds some "seriousness" or "realism", I rather find it goes the other way around in most cases.

I enjoyed gate, because it had a very caring side to the native people.

 

I understand the gore part and gate gore IMO is less than invincible. (The part I showed was probably the gorest one)

Pretty much how I see gore.

Gate had pretty much the same level as a FPS.

not sure, I wonder if it's under the category similar to the "uncanny valley" of implemented visuals. Maybe the same with sexual themes being implemented right. (the witcher? visual novels? etc, the same for shows). From sniper games giving very visual inside to a bullet, which in my mind is not as gory as other more gory focused titles and rather feels more based on information and how well you do sniping. Or when anything fantasy can become a lot more gory, as in Doom to serious sam or other titles focused on non-humans. then you have series like Resident Evil. although this might have gone a bit off-topic.

It was more siege/cod level.

There was no x-ray view when snipers were doing things.

Its a horrible mess, some of its decent. Also the timeline to watch it in, is also a pain. You got railgun and index, each series into one. At times to mix each series and season to know more. You might be able to watch just one of the series by itself.

Try, My Bride Is a Mermaid // Seto no Hanayome. Its a fun show, maybe little fan service but mostly focus on the show and characters or at least has fun with it.
