Just got new prebuilt system for Christmas, upon start up found there is no WiFi options available to commence windows 11 set up. Upon googling I am not sure if the motherboard has WiFi (PRIME B550-K)

If this is the case I’m not sure how Ethernet works if anyone can explain Ethernet to me or wether or not my

motherboard has WiFi that would be a great help.

Ethernet is just a wire… you plug it into the motherboard ethernet port. One end goes in your router, the other end in the Pc.

If your PC is not physically close to the router, Wifi is likely your best bet, an no that mobo doesn’t have Wifi built in. You will need to get either a USB Wifi adapter or a PCIe Wifi adapter; USB adapter is much simpler so that would likely be your best bet.

Uh... it's the other way around. The closest you are the less worse the signal is, you'll still have packet losses and high latency even if the computer is 1m away from the router, that's wifi for ya

I think they mean that it's easy to connect from a distance than run an ethernet cable across the same distance.

Go cable for peace of mind or spend hours banging your keyboard and desk because the signal cuts while you're downloading something, trying to watch a stream or playing a game.

Yes... closer is better for signal. But a lot of people don't want to run cables all over their house, thats all I meant by this. If OP can run a wire, they should. But if the PC isn't close to the router, wifi may be a good option.
