help needed on new build

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming 

Just need opinions on the build or what could be changed + compatibility issues.

 

CPU : AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz 12-Core Processor

CPU COOLER : Corsair iCUE H100i ELITE CAPELLIX 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

MOTHERBOARD Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO AC ATX AM4 Motherboard

MEMORY : 2X Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory

STORAGE Western Digital Blue SN550 250 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (JUST FOR WINDOWS)

VIDEO CARD : Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12 GB GAMING OC Video Card

CASE : Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case

POWER SUPPLY : Corsair HXi 1000 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

How much does that CPU cost? A 12900K may be a better choice.

 

Other than that it seems decent.

That would be a sweet setup.

 

The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is the bios version on the MB being up to date enough to recognize the 5000 series. But that board doesn't require the CPU/Memory installed to update the bios so would be a minor problem at best. 

 

I assume you will have a second drive for storage/programs?

B550/5800X might be more balanced...

If I understand correctly & you're going for 32GB RAM, a 2x16GB kit might be a better choice, if only because it'll stress the RAM controller on the CPU less.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

Isn't B550 Zen3 ready by design?

Zen3 didn't get new chipsets - n/m.

yes I have 2 8gb sticks form my last pc thanks for the suggestion

Intel 6xx 'boards would kill the value, though...

yes I have a 10tb external dive. thanks for the suggestion
