5600x or 5700g?

Heya, the time has come to upgrade my pc from a FX8320 (yes, I know..)

So basically I am planning to buy a CPU, Ram, MB and an SSD for now.. B550 Chipset, 16gb ram, 980 EVO SSD, that is all good..but the problem is the CPU, I cannot decide if I should go for a R5 5600x or R7 5700g?

 

R5 5600x - 6c, 12t, cheaper, but higher fps usually.
R7 5700g - 8c, 16t, better at multitasking, has an IGPU

 

I do plan to upgrade my R9 270 too, but not now, atleast not before summer (Hopefully the prices go lower till then?), so for now I am left with the question, 5600x or 5700g?

I mainly use my PC for gaming, Music production (kinda hard on VSTi) and light video editing.. Maybe future streaming?

5600X is faster for gaming and 5700G for productivity. I's say for you the 5700G would outweigh the pros of the 5600X

I guess you are right, but at the same time, is the difference in gaming noticeable at such a level?

5600X. Might be only 6 cores, but its a beast.

Also, the 5600x supports PCIe 4.0 while the 5700g doesn't?

The 5700G has basically the CPU performance of a 5600X, anyways. For your use case, I'd actually grab a 5800X, which has seen a price reduction in most areas after the launch of Alder Lake. At around $300-350, it's a very good value and will serve you better in the long run than either the 5600X or 5700G. Otherwise, I'd just take the 5600X.

Yes, but the difference isn't noticable unless you have a PCIE 4 SSD and move a lot of files.

Well, sadly, in my area it didn't get a reduction, and that's the problem, around 450eur plus a decent cooler places me above 520eur, which is kinda above the budget..

Then take the 5600X. 5700G is only worth it if you need the iGPU.

I am making a 2nd rig and I decided on the 5700G.  The 5600X is faster at gaming but this is mostly at 1080P.  If you do more multicore work or in my case just want to have a CPU with onboard graphics for troubleshooting or holding out for a dedicated GPU, than the 5700G makes sense.

This makes perfect sense given that We don't when the dGPU shortage will be over with pricing back to normal.
