Should I upgrade PSU's?

With talks of next gen CPUs and GPUs needing 600 watts or more , would it be wise to change from a 850 watt PSU to a 1000 or 1300 watts.

600 watts is if you decide to extreme overclock a 12900k or overclock a 64 core threadripper

No you do not need a beefy asf psu but if you dont wanna buy a psu in the next decade or 2, a 1000w unit or more will help although dont spend like 696$ on a 1600w or something cause thats just stupid

no. not even fully out with the new standard for connectors either.

and not fully sure how future gens are going to be. if they would be in such a change. unless they did a drastic build were big power draw was accepted, outside of the current normal standards.

I agree, no need to upgrade unless your total system power is close to or exceeds your psu wattage.

On a side note, I don't know how intel, amd and nvidia are going to get away with making more power hungry components, with the amount of environmental rules being forced upon manufacturers across all industries and the rising price of energy I would expect that PC components are going to have to become more power efficient and use less wattage than previous generations.

Who knows, perhaps in 10 years time we'll laugh at how we used to need a 850W PSU and be able to run the latest hardware with a 250w

wait till it happens and you buy them first before you upgrade, since it doesn't affect you until then anyway.
