Need an Architecture/ Animation Computer build recommendations

Budget (including currency):  2500 - 4000 CAD

Country:  CAN

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rhino 7, Revit, Grasshopper (parametric Designing), V-ray, Photoshop, Premier, After Effect, Coral Painter, Games/Oculus.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

So, Currently I have a surface book 3 and lets say that rendering a few images and models is kinda killing the laptop. Also, when I use the tablet for drawing on photoshop, some of the brushes lag so badly that I need to go to the washroom and back to wait for it load. That being said, I do prioritize the design/ animation portion over the gaming.

It'll be used for Rendering on 3D modelling software, Rhino/V-Ray, some animation/video editing, Parametric Computing, an a small amount of gaming on the side. I would like to decrease the time of rendering and make complex photoshop/ coral painter brushes a bit smoother on the tablet itself too.

I would be using 2 - 3 monitors, ideally 2k resolution. and one of the monitors would be a drawing tablet. I'm also just getting ready for black friday I guess to see if can't pick up some parts to build. I think 4K would be my upper limit, but cheaper the better? It doesn't need to break records for rendering speeds, but needs to be relatively beefy.

Any recommendations?

Isn't the tasks OP does more GPU intensive? You are going full out on CPU and suggesting low end GPU?

Here is builds and aim for good GPU.

Intel build:

AMD build:

I presumed the op software list was in order of importance. The first few are cpu intensive with gpu being important only for model display performance.

I7 still be absolutely enough for those task as well as 5900X. But good GPU definitely reduces rendering times and will help in 3D modeling. Photoshop is more CPU intensive, But I think any good modern CPU will be able to run those task without a problem, won't it?

One must consider reality. If one steps down to the i7, the savings would not be anywhere near enough to step up to a higher performing GPU. According to ca.pcpartpicker one would need an additional 1k to buy a better Nvidia GPU today.

For. Clarification, the programs were in order of importance, but isnt upgrading the gpu just simply buying one step up?

Like a 3070 ti? Which is only like a few hundred? Also how, important is video ram in these applications? 8 vs 12?

Current ca.pcpartpicker price for an RTX 3070 Ti is > CA$2,700!

If you can get a higher performing GPU roughly in budget, go for it. I just don't think an RTX 3070 Ti is worth nearly 3/4 of the budget.

Ah I see because of the GPU shortages.

@Blanket @brob

Newegg has combo deals. Here's link for one great combo deal: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4350801

If you buy this, You can resell CPU+Motherboard and keep GPU and PSU or sell 5800X and upgrade to 5950X. 5950X is better for productivity tasks than 12900K. If I where you, I would do that.

Total cost will be ~3700 CAD if you sell 5800X and you'll end up with perfect system.

Here is few more deals too:

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4345255

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4375730

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4386182

https://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboDealDetails?ItemList=Combo.4375736

There are other deals too, But those are more suited for your build.
