Go to solution Solved by mapegl,

nope!

i will be moving my computer parts into a new case, and i was wondering if i need to take the processor out of the socket before i remove the motherboard from my case, and put it in the new one

actually i did that, and i even left the cpu cooler on. you can lift the motherboard on it. (no joke!) it is really handy to grab on when liftin the mobo up.

edit: there is even a video where linus does just that. i just dont remember which one.

I wouldn't recommend doing it with a stock intel cooler with no backplate though.

true!

Don't do it with the stock cooler! Only with a backplate! I am really sorry for not pointing that out!

But you can definitely leave the CPU in the socket.
