t-bone MB 7 beta usb

Theyoyoking2

I'm looking for a dynamic mic preferably around 100-120 euro's. So I stumbled on the t-bone MB 7 beta usb (https://www.thomann.de/nl/the_t.bone_mb_7_beta_usb.htm) and my question is: is it any good and does anybody have other reccomendations. And can they please be USB, just for the ease of use?

thanks to all the people that answer already!

Honestly T.bone (the house brand for Thomann) has earned a place in my go-to list for mic manufacturers alongsider 3U, ADK, Stellar and Groove Tubes among others, their products are usually comparable to what it is they are emulating at a much lower price. I do, however, hate USB mics with a passion and would recommend looking at other options like the MB75 with an interface or Samson Q2U / Tbone MB88U / Audio Technica 2005 purely so that if/when the USB circuit breaks you can still fall back on the XLR though I did notice your linked mic also has XLR as an option.

If that's the sort of money you're looking at spending and you really don't want an interface I would hazard a guess it performs well though I have no personal experience with the mic and am mostly basing this assumption on the reviews and my personal experience with the brand

i know xlr is a lot better, but i don't know enoygh about interffaces, so do recommend an interface w/ enough gain and a boom arm that suits it? it can sit on my desk but a clamp also works

Surprisingly decent. That price point cant go wrong for simplicity of plug and play with decent quality.

If your not buying a decent mic and a decent interface. XLR isnt really better. 120 euros to get a decent interface your spending majority of your budget on it. And it has features you dont need like extra inputs, outputs etc. Then any left over your getting a drastically inferior mic.

  • 1 year later...

I am very aware this thread is quite old, I just wanted to add something in case someone stumbles on it (like I just did):

The discussion of XLR being superior to USB does injustice towards the t.bone MB7 USB as it includes BOTH a USB and a XLR connector. So you can use it in a very very simple way over USB (it does not even offer gain control that way) or in a bigger setup with an external audio interface. I think that’s what makes the product so very easy to recommend.

Anyways, those are my two cents.

If something does not work, it has been subjected to too little Gaffers Tape.
