R9 290 or 780?

780. But it depends on what features you want, but I believe the 780 performs better than the 290

R9 290 costs a bit less, but the 780 performs a bit better, runs cooler, uses much less power and all the other Nvidia stuff...

yeah, that's the other thing. Won't most next gen games ported from consoles perform better on AMD gpus?

I would say the GeForce GTX 780, that would be the one I'd buy if money was no object but then again I'd probably look into the GTX 780 Ti

Ya sure DX 12 but how is it gonna perform, Mantle is pretty strong, i currently have a i5 4670k @4.6GHz and a AMD HD7850, and Mantle is really impressive with Star Swarm.

(I'm really expecting Star Citizen)

I would go for the EVGA Classified it's reasonably priced for what you get and if you want to overclock you'll have a blast.

Wouldn't have a clue since I haven't looked into nividia cards but evga seems to be a brand that pops up allot.

tbh all the cards are pretty strong for the 780 people seem to be on the EVGA hype atm but their cards dont outperform Msi, gigabyte or asus but much if at all. My choice would be EVGA, MSi or gigabyte.

You can't go wrong with either of these cards. With the non-reference cooled 290s heat is no longer an issue. Just pick the 780 or 290 you like depending on the looks, cooler, price and bundle if any.
