Is an upgrade to an RTX 3080 worthwhile for me?

blazesword2008

I currently have a RX 5700 XT, which currently I haven't had many issues with, and has been good overall. The only problem is the encoder on AMD graphics cards isn't as good as聽NVIDIA's (please correct me if I'm wrong) and I'm having issues in programs like Premiere Pro which for some reason won't work properly with OpenCL, and without GPU Acceleration, editing videos takes a lot longer. Therefore, (if I were theoretically to get a RTX 3080 at the proper price), would it be a worthwhile upgrade? I do also play a lot of video games, so it being an upgrade there as well would be fantastic. I appreciate聽your feedback, as I don't really understand a lot about graphics cards. 馃檪

Alright, well we'll see what happens, but you're probably right.

You might be able to swap the AMD card for an equal or better NVidia equivalent as the AMD card likely mines better. this is my guess however nvidia seems to have a fanboy premium

CPU: Ryzen 2600聽GPU: RX 6800聽RAM: ddr4 3000Mhz 4x8GB聽 MOBO: MSI B450-A PRO聽Display: 4k120hz with freesync premium.

Yeah it might even just be better for me to get the AMD equivalent NVIDIA card and just get the better encoder instead of going all the way up to the 3000 series.聽

I recently upgraded from RX 5700 XT to RTX 3070 Ti.

After selling the 5700xt the difference to upgrade was about 拢180 total.

DLSS alone was worth the upgrade, it is also quieter, faster and crashes less often than the 5700xt did.

I would recommend that you upgrade, you should be happy

Nvidia all the way, no crashes, DLSS is a killer app, you get superior drivers (Open GL) if you care about Open GL performance, Nvidia is far ahead.

Yeah if I can get it for a good price, that sounds pretty good to me. I always kinda thought Nvidia had the lead in stuff like that anyways.

Don't get me wrong though the 5700 XT is a damm capable card, especially at 1080p.

But the 3070ti is a level above, especially at 1440p

"No crashes" isn't quite realistic, not for me and not for many people I know but definitely far fewer crashes than with Radeon

And who do you know?

Dave? Ben? Harry? Ben? Oh you said his name twice, like most when pampering an argument.

I know Ronnie Pickering, heard of him? And his 3090 crashes all the time
