YouTube aspect ratio issues on tv app

Hi, got a odd little issue I suspect there’s no easy fix for but thought I’d try here before I give up all hope haha

When watching 2:1 videos on the YouTube app on my Panasonic TV is does a weird squish to make it 16:9, but doesn’t fill the whole screen. So the height ends up being correct with black bars as expected, but it is squished horizontally too leaving the same size bars on the sides too

this is annoying bc it’s the easiest way to watch videos in 4K but with the bars and squished image it looks weird

like I said I assume there is no easy fix and the apps just not up to date but any help would be appreciated

Apps and bundled smart-tv software are notoriously bad, and I'm not surprised.  I gave up and just stream from a PC via HDMI.

You might try using a fire-stick or some other HDMI plug-in for streaming, and see if that fixes.  IDK if anything can be done about on-board.
