Windows 10 Insider Build expires Oct 31 - Can't upgrade to Windows 11

cloneman

Looks like microsoft is leaving me out in the cold. My computer is not compatible with Windows 11, so I can't update it anymore; it will expire Oct 31 and I can't do anything except re-install Windows 10 Stable  via clean install. I'm on  Build 21387.

That's not a very nice way to treat "insiders".

Well...

I did the Windows Insider Program and my system does not meet the Minimum Requirements for Windows 11. ...

I am running Windows 11 Pro Build 22000.282 right now.

I did a Bare Metal Clean Install on Boot via USB and everything installed fine. Plus, I get Windows Updates for now.

I am using an ASUS TPM-M R2.0 module on my ASUS x99 Deluxe II motherboard and Secure Boot is enabled. The only thing that falls short is the generation of my CPU. Which is an Intel Core i7 6850k and below the minimum..

For now everything works fine..

You Beta Tested the software... you should have a hardware solution to run the OS by now. Either what you had on hand or are using.... or go out and buy some new hardware that will work...

If your computer is not compatible with Windows 11... go make your computer compatible with Windows 11, so you can run Windows 11.

Simple

You should be on the Release Preview channel, and this is the latest build:

https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2021/10/26/releasing-windows-10-build-19044-1320-21h2-to-release-preview-channel/

In November, Microsoft will release Windows 10 21H2 update.

Neither of These are viable solutions. 21H2 will be considered a build that less recent than my current build.

From my perspective everyone who is on dev channel is screwed and has no upgrade or downgrade path. Forcing a clean install on people is not a good solution, under penalty of nag screens and restriction

You were warned that this would be the way though.

I got that message after I registered a Z800 and a Duo Core - I just got the latest dev from UUP Dump and installed it - no problems - it just won't update from Microsoft.

It was still time to change channel then AFAIK... but since you're not supposed to be using dev builds on anything you care about a reinstall should be no worries at all, and something you want to do anyway to start clean on a prod version.
