Panasonic smart tv keeps putting PC input to sleep

To try and summarise quickly

 

I have a Panasonic 55inch 4k telly. Connected are my nvidia shield and gaming rig via HDMI.

When I switch the tv off or go on shield for a long time then when I switch back to the pc HDMI its a black screen, even though the PC is going full steam ahead its not displaying anything. 

 

The shield never has this problem and I have looked evrywhere on telly and pc for s setting which might make it sleep after a period but I can't find anything. PC set to high performance and so on.
