Thoughts on i3 10105?

You're going to need a better cpu...

Can't you get at least an Intel 10400F?

or a Ryzen 5 5600X?

WHY ????

The OP talks about a first build, with an i3 and a 1650, so it's OBVIOUSLY a budget build, and you're suggesting a 5600x ? Without asking the OP's budget or needs ?

@Burgerchops1, the 10105 can be fine depending on your need, budget and location, just asking about a CPU without any context isn't going to get you the advices you need.

Nah, the 10105 is still plenty for an entry-level gaming build, especially if OP pairs it with a B560 board and fast RAM, and it won't hold back the 1650 Super:

(The 10105 is just a 10100 with a slight clock boost).

Ryzen 5 5600 :: Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC :: MSI B550-VC :: WD SN750 :: NH-D15 :: 32GB DDR4-3200 :: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG

Depends on how much it costs and how long until you upgrade your GPU. I had an i3-10100 for a while, and it paired up to a Vega 64 without any meaningful CPU bottlenecking.

Given the cost of mid-range CPUs has gone up considerably (the days of $169 Ryzen 5 3600's and $149 i5-10400F are gone) and you can nab an i3-10105F for $104......it's compelling.

Additionally you can drop it on the cheapest B560 motherboard and it will allow memory overclocking.

I believe it should be able to handle up to around an RTX 3060ti without losing too much performance, depending on games. So you would have a significant upgrade range between a 1650 Super and a 3060ti/3070.

Ok man. Yeah sorry for no context. Ok thanks man. 👍

Ah ok thank you. Yeah I’m thinking about the B560 and memory overclocking will be nice. Thanks

Just be aware 10th gen chips are only PCIE3. Not really a big deal, but it disables the primary M.2 slot. So if that's something will affect you, get a board with enough motherboard-powered PCIE3 M.2 slots. Or just use SATA.
