Linus home PC operation

Ok bad title but I couldn't think of a better term.

 

Like Linus seems to have his home PC in a server rack in like an attic but he uses it in the living room and office?

How does stuff like that work? It seems like a real PITA to run cables for all the mouse, keyboard, monitor, exc. Am I missing something here or do people really do that? Just seems like it'd be easier to run 1 line for internet than to run like a million cables for each item.

He's done videos on it, he's got a fiberoptic cable running to/from the rack to a 2K$+ box on his desk that is a dock for all his connections.

Optical Thunderbolt 3 cable + dock to the office. Living room is another PC on location.

If I recall, its specifically the CalDigit TS3+ and Cornings optical TB3 cables.

Obviously the PC itself has to have Thunderbolt.

Interesting, i dono how I've missed a vid on that, i thought I'd watched everything on the channel. I didn't know it was that easy. Expensive, but it seems like a real good clean way to keep all the systems together in the rack.

The video about the current setup was one of which the Corning optical TB3 cable was the subject, maybe 2-3 months ago?

Yep the cable he couldn’t talk about for months. Interesting how fast a TB2 and USB3.0 came out but TB 3 took a l long time
