Gaming ranks.

You may or may not know by now, I play A LOT of R6 siege. But lately there has been an influx of MNK on console and boosted people claiming to be champ/diamond ranks. We all know they have NO SHOT holding their own in those lobby's. So why do carried people gloat about their ranks, and have people boost them, just to be dead weight at those ranks? It really discourages the drive to get the high ranks the right way. 

 

 

What is the drive for this? Why be proud of a fake rank??? Makes no sense.

Because there are people who actually think your rank in any game is important. 

But i can give you a couple of reasons:

1. Vanity 

2. Getting a reaction from somebody on the internet 

3. People who deal with their shit irl projecting stuff like that

4. Spoiled brats

 

And i can continue but you get i my point.

These boosted people do it to get attention. Just dont give it to them.

It's the same thing in GTA Online. You can get a high K/D by killing AFK players all day long or you can get a high K/D by fighting skilled players.

They think the aim of the game is to get a high K/D, so other players respect you.

But to me the aim of the game is to learn enough skills to defend against other players successfully.

They feel better if they have a high K/D, I feel better knowing, I can wreck them any time any place

 

Maybe you are taking the rank a bit too seriously. Just be happy about some awesome actions you did and laugh about them sitting there scared to play because they want to keep their rank

Sadly, this has traveled to even Roblox. My friends used to always boast on what level they’re at and call me trash on Aresnal. I just stopped playing Aresnal one because of that and there were some other reasons. (like how it got boring about a while) It’s kinda dumb because you got no reward because of your level lol.

no only on certain games the developers implement it like most games don’t have levels but on that specific game it has levels

I think you should play some R6 siege and see what taking rank seriously is like lol if youre not high rank youre literally crapped on. Ive been plat so many times on console, and I came to PC and the first 2 weeks ever of playing FPS on PC I solo queued to Gold 1 and I get flamed for not being plat. Then you get plat and its "wElL mY fRiEnD iS a DiAmOnD yOuRe DoG wAtEr" - then you get diamond and now that there is diamond 1, 2 and 3 youre a "purified plat" not diamond. Someone I know personally is champ but they have a 0.2kd and im like youre not champ just stop. 

 

And when you do competitive play - EVERY stat of yours gets nitpicked. Oh your headshot percent is less than 50? trash. KD isnt at least 1.1? trash. win loss under 50? trash. Win loss over 50%? Carried. more than 20% penetration kills? Cheater.

 

The game is awesome, and I love it. But the community is so fixated on rank and stats that they play like crap and then claim to be some higher rank - but when youre actually that higher rank and youre trying to play rank games with some carried kid who cant get a kill - its annoying but then they try to ego you about their fake rank and I just wanna wring their neck.

So if you win you go up in rank and if you lose, you go down.
BUT there are so many smurfs, that losing a bronce game doesn't mean you are bad. It just means that there are probably smurfs in the enemie team.
That's why I dont care about rank anymore. I just play because I like playing. Getting mad is useless.

That's why I dont care about rank anymore. I just play because I like playing. Getting mad is useless. 

Siege does the same but the elo is variable you always lose more than you win. But if the other team has a lower average MMR rating, you lose even more elo. But if you win, you get less elo than if the team had a higher average MMR. They see it as the lower average is the team factored to lose and is rewarded with more elo for winning, BUT if you lose to them, they take even more because you should have won.

 

AND THEN. It also goes by how many ranked games you play. Less than 10 games you get 100+ elo..and it goes alllllll the way down to 25. To put that into perspective. Plat 3 starts at 3200mmr. Gold 1 starts at 2799. To go from Gold 1 to Plat 3 where I am at getting 25 MMR would take me 16 back to back wins. BUT. When I lose, i never lose less than 41mmr. So it's almost 2 games to make up for one loss.

I dont really care about ranks, i only really play for fun even though im competetive. Holding a rank in video games is too much of a hassle. Atleast from my experience in CS.

Problem is in recruiting for competitive teams, you have to have a certain rank to even be considered. So it's one of those things for me unfortunately. But then the fake rank people get these chances while better players can't.

Since you are pretty much only talking about R6. It was my go to game until about ~2019. I lost interest because with the increase in player count the experience got noticeably worse. The community went down the drain, I mean it is probably one of the most toxic and crybaby like communities in gaming right now. That combined with the new operators that are getting increasingly stupid, the map reworks that make every map the same maze which negates any actual tactics and the increasing amount of fishy players (wallhacking and shit like that) at higher levels (used to be ~plat3 (1.7KD and 60%WL)) was enough for me to quit entirely. Most of my friends feel the same way, all of us played it since release.

 

Anyway in my experience those with boosted ranks never actually played ranked much and were only in casual where they were loud-mouthing about their rank. So they used their rank to compensate for whatever and nothing else.

When I was a kid I thought rank was important. Being able to place high in starcraft, beating the highest difficulty. Back then I assumed if you ranked was high you where good. 12 year old me was stupid.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I guess the real grind that matters today is to see how much debt you can get and have other people to pay off the fastest  #lookingforsugermomma (a joke)

R6 is all i got lol i play a bit of GTA but it's so easy to mod and stuff it doesn't even matter what level you are anymore. 

 

We had an interesting turn of events with the carried champ I know and they haven't played since a famous champ player invited them along and they got zero kills 4 games in a row. Waiting for it to be a YouTube video lol
