Gaming (I don't care about getting over 60 fps with 1ms response times) is what I would mainly use it for but, I also watch lots of movies. My brother does photo work and were looking for a monitor we can both use. Would you recommend this monitor if not which one we? want over 1080p.

PLEASE USE PCPARTPICKER.  My rig: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZBmWjX

Since your brother will use it for professional purposes, I can stand confidently behind your decision to buy that monitor. Otherwise, I would have just recommended the PB variant, which isn't factory calibrated but it's cheaper.

The PB278Q is also a great option and $200-$250 cheaper, you should look into the difference (I believe it's only calibration?) between the two to make sure you need the PA's features.

if he was viruz hun he'd be wanting a 14k OLED curved 4D glow in the dark unicycle G-sync monitor doe.

@  I'd recommend getting a pb278q and a screen calibrating device, you'll save like $200 and get the same thing essentially.

If your brother is doing photo stuff you don't need a pro-art monitor unless he's making a living off those photos he's editing IMO.
