Hey, how can i setup a windows server that i can connect from around the world. So far i have managed to enable ftp on local network. But cant seem to be able to setup for public access.. any ideas or help appritiated. And yes i have looked up youtube. All videos pretty much same. And very old ones

Ideally a VPN, as then you can access it just as if you are connected to the LAN.

Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

You'll have to set up port forwarding in the router to get it working. And then it will still be a mess.

 

In Filezilla FTP server (and probably others) you can also limit the port range for passive mode, and specify the external IP.  

 

I'd also suggest using FTP over TLS ... Filezilla FTP server supports it.  it will encrypt the communication between client and server, and optionally the file transfers can also be encrypted.

 

Look into stuff like OwnCloud and other solutions that would allow you to share files through a regular browser. 

Look into remote connection stuff like RealVNC for example (it has decent encryption and works well ... wouldn't trust plain remote desktop connection to the outside world)

Ok. Plan is to use it personaly and drop in photos ar take whenewerbi need from my phone

Sorry I wasn't specific, in case you didn't understand I was referring to running a VPN server (such as OpenVPN) on your PC then port forwarding to it from your router so you can connect to it from the Internet.
