Can I simply add speakers?

CuriousBro

I have the Bose Companion 2. The clarity and depth is phenomenal, but lately I've been playing Doom 2016 and feeling like I need more. The base can be felt a little, but it's like the game is trying to give more, only limited by my speakers. Is there a way to add a subwoofer or something/anything to enhance the experience. This is a data collecting post as I don't know what is possible and what is not. I'm not looking to put speakers all around my room, more so directly in front of me below my monitor or above my head. Ideally, smaller speakers. Again, I'm not sure what's possible here, so feel free to give any feedback.

What are your thoughts?

Are you looking for speakers or a subwoofer? By nature subwoofers are not small.

Depending on your motherboard's audio outputs, adding a subwoofer is plug and play.

Why not try vibroacoustic one? Would provide bass right where it's needed and also you'll feel it when playing

Futureproof your builds and try not to fry anything

Would you provide a link? When I googled this, I found $600 chairs...

I don't know what I'm looking for. A more immersive feeling of sound by using three front speakers. Don't even know it that's possible. What would be the smallest subwoofer that could be used? The space in front of my pc is 4.5in X 20in.

With a space like that you might find a sound bar, but it's unlikely to really add anything. You're too restricted to really add anything of great value.

You'd have to go into a specialized setup to get good quality bass from a small form factor.  Virtually every 2.1 offering has ported subs because the small driver just cannot get enough "oomph" otherwise.

Now if you get your own receiver and a downfiring, sealed 10" or something, you might be onto something.  But again, that's custom.
