Must Have Minecraft Mods?

Go to solution Solved by Drown,

If you want to focus really on the mods (and are not just looking for a couple of additions to Vanilla Minecraft), try a FTB pack. They contains a couple dozens of great mods, from IC2/BC (machines) to Thaumcraft/Ars Magica (magic), with mods that add some cool new objects, new fully customizable tools, etc.

Then, once you've experimented with the mods, you can choose your favorites and integrate them to a Vanilla Minecraft game if you'd like to keep it more traditionnal. (with FTB you very rarely use Vanilla items)

Hello Folks!

I'm really bored, and have nothing to play.

So I decided to check out Minecraft after about a year or more pause.

So my question is: What are some of the must have mods right now?

Thanks. :)

this was useless, after Creative mode was added.

Not if you are in some servers or in survival and don't have the Command Console enabled at start.

Optifine is a must, but if your looking for good mods go check out Technic Launcer, Feed The Beast and ATLauncher, they make a seperate folder for their launcher and they install modpacks to it.  Its the best way imo to find mods you like and want in vinilla.

Industrial Craft/Build Craft, Gregtech(gregtech makes the game a lot harder), redpower, Modular Power Suits and a thousand others who's names escape me.

You can do stuff like FTB but real men install mods themselves :D

project red does all the fun stuff red power used to

Dang you Eloraam!

But anyway OP find your way to FTB and mess with some of the mod packs, the ftb launcher is also a damn easy way to install all the singular mods you want if I remember it correctly (I have been doing singleplayer vanilla lately). As to which ones well everyone has their preference, I like the tech mods others like the magic mods so go play :D

I think computercraft has come a long way since it was released, and it's a great way of automating tedious chores like farming and gathering wood. And if you like programming or want to try basic programming it's great fun :) I think you can even set up a protected base with security cameras that only let certain players through, and it can target mobs as well :)
