Cpu temps went up 10 degrees after installing an exhaust fan in my case

Papertowel24

Today I installed a new 120mm fan to the back of my Lancool 2 mesh case. I didn't have an exhaust fan in my case since I didn't remember to buy one. I have built this pc 4 days ago and the cpu temps were running at around 32c at idle. After installing the exhaust fan, that went up to around 40c to 47c. It doesn't seem like it could be sucking out cool air because all of my intake fans are at the front. I unplugged the fan and the temps are 31c at idle.

I am using a Ryzen 5800x, a Dark Rock Pro 4 cpu cooler, and the exhaust fan is a Pure Wings 2 120mm fan.

Is it bad if I just continue using no exhaust fan? The temps have been fine without one and there is a lot of room in my case.

Are you able to post a picture of your case? There's probably a fan or two that is backwards. If it's not the exhaust fan that's backwards, it might have just gotten pointed out with the exhaust fan.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Are you sure that the system is idling and there isn't anything running in the background?

It's better to look at load temps instead.

I just made sure to check it after a couple of replies like this. It was correctly installed. I really don’t know what could be wrong. There is a possibility that I am using the wrong Y connecter for fans, but both fans that are plugged into it spin just fine.

I didn't check what was running in the background but the only things that have been open are chrome and armoury crate to see the temps.

There's probably something else at play, and u have to look at load temps to know for sure. But for that case and your cooler and everything, u don't need exhaust fan. Dark Rock Pro 4 is big, already has 2 fans, that's all it needs. There's 3 in front.

If your GPU load temps are good, you're fine.
