Shuld i change laptop thermal pads?

I just disassembled my Asus TUF FX505DV because it was running really hot. Those lighter colored things on the memory chips in the attached image are thermal pads i think, do i need to replace them too, and if so, will just a tiny drop of normal thermal paste do the trick?

I may be wrong, but it looks to me like only the very large area above the GPU in that picture is a thermal pad, the others look like thermal paste. If it looks like foam it's a thermal pad, if it looks like grease it's thermal paste.

It looks kinda in between a grease and foam, not sure which one it is. also it's a perfect square, not spread out at all. The big one is on the vrm's. Should i change them or can i just put it on with the old ones? I don't play anything too gpu intensive anyway, 60-70% usage max.
