How do I fix this weird jagged lines/shimmering in games.

This happens in all games.

Everything looks fine close to character in games, but everything out far looks all shimmery and jagged.
(In the DCS World vid, it is very noticeable around the river)
(In the Moto GP 2021 vid, it is very noticeable on the grandstands and track lines away from me, but everything near me looks fine.)

How do I fix this?

All drivers are up to date.

It is turned on. I have tried it both through the game's settings and through nvidia control panel. Shimmering and jagged edges are still there.

Perhaps go up to a higher AA, like 4X/8X/16X etc.

Some games just have bad anti aliasing implementations. Dark Souls 3 for example. You can run at 4K and enable AA and you will still see shimmering and jagged edges ingame.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

It is at 8X, thats as high as nvidia control panel lets me go.

If you are force enabling AA, that also can result in AA being disabled all together. Do a clean install of your graphics card drivers.

Hmm, RDR2 and Cyberpunk 2077 don't have jagged lines for me, but shimmering is still there.

MotoGP 2021 should have proper anti aliasing implemented no?. Plus the jagged and shimmering appears on objects only far away from me. Its like there is an invisible force field around my character that the game wont render things properly beyond it. This same thing happens in GTA 5.

Even without forcing AA through nvidia control panel, and enabling AA through the game's graphics settings doesnt fix it.
I have DDU'd the drivers twice already.

It really depends on the implementation. Not every game uses AA in the same way. Shimmering is also mostly caused by lower resolutions like 1080p. Jagged lines are easier to get rid of with AA than shimmering.

Shimmering is when something has to be rendered but it's smaller than a pixel on your screen, so basically the pixel can't decide if it should show the object or not. It's pretty hard to fix this without increasing the resolution.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

Also depends on monitor settings perhaps...

Me, I know exactly that I can make games kinda have bad AA, I just avoid these settings and also play a lot with Nvidia DSR, which helps a lot (1440p resolution downsampled to 1080p ftw)

Yeap, RE3 for example has a really weird AA or anisotropic filtering options (don't remember exactly) it makes everything look really grizly while also being more taxing... but as long you don't use that setting everything looks totally fine.

Whats your texture filtering options in Nvidia settings?

I always have it on quality... i know lots of people put this on performance... the difference is subtle,  but its there...

And that sounds like a LOD issue,  also covered in the link...

Of course setting everything to high/max might kill your framerate but worth a try to see if these settings do anything 🤔

Yeah. My PS4 looks just fine on the same monitor.

Shimmering isnt really a big deal for me. But jagged edges ruins the immersion in games.

Like @Mark Kaine said, if the game doesn't offer better AA settings, then using DSR to "super sample" your image is the best thing you can do. But it will require some performance headroom.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
