RTX 3070 Ti getting shutdowns with Seasonic Focus GX-750 (Mfg. date Oct 2020) (Also with Corsair RM1000x [2021])

Would you guys know if the Focus GX-750 is adequate for my RTX 3070 Ti?

I got three random shutdowns two days ago (Sept 18) while stress testing, and I don't know if it's the power supply. So far I haven't had any shutdowns since then

My return window closes on Sept 23.

I read in the PSU tier list at the start of this thread that this make and model was free of the RTX 3000 series shutdowns. Manufacturing date was Oct 2020.

Any advice? Should I return this and buy an RM850x (2021)?

Update: I'm also getting random shutdowns on a Corsair RM1000x.

Stress testing what? Gpu or cpu? Have you tried without oc and xmp?

I was running prime95 and furmark at the same time. System has been stable for at least a year before the Gigabyte RTX 3070 ti and Seasonic GX-750 upgrade. (Used to be on a Zotac GTX 1070 and Seasonic M12ii Evo 620w). RAM has been stable at 3600 MHz CL 16 for the same period, validated with Karhu Ram Test 20000%.

I don't think anyone ever confirmed this.  Maybe with the Vega issue, but I've seen post-2018 Seasonic PSUs still shut down with Ampere even when the load is well under the OPP threshold.

Aw man that sucks, so in your best opinion should I return this and get an RM850x/RM1000x? Or will it just be as likely to shutdown under load?

Are there any PSUs that are confirmed to not shutdown with Ampere then?

So far the past two days my Focus GX-750 hasn't shut down anymore.

I'm from the Philippines, but I'll be getting the RM850x/RM1000x from Amazon. I got the SeaSonic GX-750 locally. I'm still torn on whether I should return this seasonic or not. Like I said it hasn't happened again, maybe those three shutdowns were isolated instances.

If it does it on gpu load only you might have traced it to psu. CPU:s and memory controllers degrade over time if oc'd too far so always test stock.

You don't need 1000w, but anyway the RMx is a better product than the Focus.

Reboots and shutdowns are two different things. Shutdown is PSU issue, reboot likely isn't.

Mine was made in November or December, no problems. You sure its the PSU? What have you done with your ram? XMP, tuned, stock? Ryzen is pretty sensitive to unstable ram, and acts the same way as you describe.

If you are running P95 and Furmark, it is not the PSU's fault that you are exceeding its capabilities. EVGA says 750w min for my card, I can easily pull 680 from the wall with out those two known power virus programs. Shit my 3770K and 980 Classified can pull 700w from the wall running Furmark and Linpack Xtreme.

I replaced it with a Corsair RM1000x that I got two days ago, and so far it hasn't been shutting down.

Do you mean if it's a PSU issue the computer won't power on automatically after a shutdown? I think motherboards by default set to power on after a power loss though.

I don't know about unstable OC's. They'd cause blue screens not shutdowns/reboots (i.e. with no BSODs).

Yes, if a PSU lets them. In case of tripped protection (whether it's OCP or UVP which seem to be main causes of tripping with high-transient power draw GPUs) the PSU would be latched off, you'd have to flick the power switch off/on to be able to start the PC again. But i've seen some cases of PSU indeed being the cause anyway because a new PSU fixed it, despite user having restarts, not shutdowns, maybe that's your case too.
